Brandon, FL -- Investigators are looking for the killer of two women found inside a town home.
According to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Charles Martinez has a violent history and is wanted for other crimes. Right now, Martinez is not a suspect but was last seen with the two women who were murdered.
"He certainly is at least the first person we're going to look at, as well as keep an open mind to try to determine whether there are others involved," said Deputy Larry McKinnon.
Joe Desmarais has lived at the Carlisle Club town homes for over a decade. As the HOA president, he keeps the community in order and looks out for his neighbors. Safety is his top priority.
"This is a bad incident that should have been stopped a long time ago," said Desmarais.
Desmarais says he was walking Tuesday afternoon when he noticed a black tint on the windows of the town home. That's when he knew that something was wrong.
"It appeared that both women were murdered and then the fire was lit subsequently to the murders, in order to cover of the crime scene," said Desmarais.
When Desmarais learned about the death of his neighbor and her friend, he was astonished but said that he always had an unsettled feeling about some of the women's visitors.
"The parents were warned about all of all the riff-raff that was coming in, but I can only do so much," said Desmarais.
Desmarais never thought his neighborhood would be the scene of a double murder investigation.
Police are calling Charles Martinez a person of interest.
