The Gryphons, who came into the game unbeaten, got on the scoreboard first on Ray Ray McClound's 1st quarter 15-yard run.
On the preceeding kickoff, Plant's Bernard Rogers returned it 85 yards and the score was tied 7-7.
McCloud, who came into the game scoring an average of two touchdowns a game, got his second score when he ran 11 yards around the left end, and Sickles lead 14-7.
In the 2nd quarter, Plant snswered back when quarterback Colby Brown connected with Austin Hudson for a 38-yard touchown.
Both teams kicked field goals in the 2nd quarter, and the halftime score was tied 17-17.
In the 4th quarter, Sickles Daniel Lezotte kicked a 40-yard field goal giving the Gryphons the lead late in the game.
But with only 27 seconds remaining, Plant's Patrick Brooks went up the middle for a five-yard touchdown, giving Plant the 24-20 victory.
Sickles (5-1) will next face Gaither and Wiregrass, both district games, before facing Tampa Bay Tech, in a game that should determine the Class 7A-7 district winner.
Plant (5-1-1) plays their final two district games, facing Newsome and then Wharton.
