Sarasota, Florida -- Three men and a woman were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital after smoking homemade "spice" that was sprayed with formaldehyde.
Sarsota Police say just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, officers on patrol at Five Points Park noticed a man face down and unresponsive near the center of the park. As they went to go investigate, almost simultaneously, three more people collapsed -- two men and a woman.
When EMS arrived two of the men became combative and violent. Five firefighters assisted the paramedics in restraining the men while they were being treated. The last two victims, man and a woman, were not violent but were extremely sick.
One of the men told officers they were smoking a homemade spice that had been sprayed with embalming fluid and/or formaldehyde.
