The Packers' streak of nine straight district titles was almost snapped but Largo scored on a last-second play to down Venice, 22-21 Friday night.
Largo quarterback Donovan Hale threw a touchdown pass as the final seconds ticked off the clock to pull the Packers to within 21-20. The Packers chose to go for the win and punched in the two-point conversion to beat Venice by a point.
The Indians entered the game 6-1 in 6A-7, and were averaging 40 points a game the past four weeks.
Largo, whose only loss was 22-0 to undefeated East Lake in early September, stays on the road next week as well when they take on Lake Gibson. Venice visits Osceola.
