Citrus Deputy Brian Hurn (center) was found dead Monday morning. Investigators say foul play is not suspected.
INVERNESS, Florida (AP) - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office says a judicial deputy was found dead during a well-being check after he didn't show up for work.
Officials said Tuesday that foul play isn't suspected in the death of 56-year-old Brian Hurn of Lecanto. Detectives are investigating the cause of death.
Hurn joined the sheriff's office in March 2010 following a 25-year career as a paramedic and rescue diver at the Chicago Fire Department.
In addition to his duties as a deputy, Hurn served as an on-call firefighter since June. In 2012, he received a certificate of commendation for his life-saving efforts when a jury member collapsed at the courthouse.
