Sarasota, Florida -- The Sarasota Police Department is taking part in a challenge aimed at reducing crashes throughout the city.
Starting on November 1, The 2013 Florida Motor Unit Challenge will be cracking down on:
- Aggressive driving
- Distracted driving
- Driving under the influence (DUI)
- Equipment and safety violations on motorcycles
- Red light running
- Seatbelt usage
- Texting and driving
"Our number one priority is the safety of our area drivers. We're working to reduce crashes throughout the city of Sarasota. This challenge will help us protect drivers and make sure they're safe as they drive through the area." said Officer Kevin Schafer, Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.
