Bartow, Florida -- Polk County Public Schools have sent out a release assuring the public that there will be enhanced security measures at the Lakeland HS vs. Kathleen HS football game on Friday.
Lakeland Police says there are two reasons for the increased security. There has been recent gun violence involving kids from each school, and the games involves a district title and 8,000 people are expected to attend the game.
Individuals who plan to attend the game are asked to follow these guidelines:
- Arrive early. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Please note, there will be no re-entry once you have entered the stadium
- Remember all fans may be subject to searches. Backpacks and coolers will not be allowed inside the stadium
- Remember alcohol, tobacco products, and weapons will NOT be allowed inside the stadium
The game will be on Friday, November 1, at Bryant Stadium located at 1125 North Florida Avenue, Lakeland.
