Tarpon Springs - East Lake High School wide receiver Artavis Scott is the 10 News Sports Player of the Week.
Last Friday night, in a 42-12 district clinching win over previously unbeaten Pinellas Park, Scott rushed for 107 yards and scored two touchdowns.
While Scott's numbers weren't big, his two scores completely changed the direction of the game.
With East Lake leading 14-6 late in the first half, Scott scored on a nice 19-yard run. Then early in the third quarter, Scott ran it in again, this time for 31-yards, and Pinellas Park was no longer a threat in the game.
Scott says the win is most important, not his stats.
"We don't care about those stats. As long as we're out there having fun and coming together as a team. We're on our mission. Everyone gets a part and they're doing their job and we get that 'W.' That's all that matters."
With the victory, the Eagles win the Class 7A-9 District title and are only two wins away from 10-0 season, something that has never been done at East Lake.
This Friday, East Lake (8-0, 4-0) travels to Northeast (1-7, 1-4) in their final district game. Then they face St. Petersburg on the road to close out the regular season.
