St. Petersburg, Florida -- A St. Petersburg woman has been arrested after police say she struck a school bus while driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Nancy Kavallierakis was driving with her 3-year-old son on 30th Ave. North approaching 24th Street North when the accident happened.
Police say the school bus came to a stop in the roadway and Kavallierakis was unable to stop in time, striking the rear of the bus with the front of her Volkswagen.
Kavallierakis was arrested for DUI following a police investigation. She is charged with careless driving, felony DUI, and refusal to submit to a breath/blood/urine test.
Neither the bus driver nor the three juvenile students on board were injured.
