Mandy Avis, 20, charged with manslaughter after shooting and killing her boyfriend, 23-year-old "Mikey Ward". She said she did not know the gun was loaded when she pulled the trigger and that it was an accident.
St. Petersburg, Florida -- A woman is facing a manslaughter charge after she says she accidentally shot and killed her boyfriend.
St. Petersburg Police say 20-year-old Mandy Avis and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Michael Ward, were at a home off the 1900 block of 2nd Avenue North when it happened.
Avis reportedly picked up the gun, pointed it at him and pulled the trigger, "thinking it was unloaded," police say. The gun went off, shooting Ward in the chest.
Ward was taken to the hospital where he later passed away.
