Bradenton, Florida-A second state audit of the Manatee School District's budget highlights more financial troubles.
A second audit released this week questions the spending of $1.9 million dollars in federal programs such as Title 1 and Special Education programs plus some grant funded programs during the 2012-2013 school year. The district had implemented budget correction steps during the last school year. District officials have until January 9, 2014 to explain.
The state released its first audit on November 25th. State auditors found 7.2 million dollars in overspending and other misuse of funds some dating back to the 2010-2011 school year. District officials have until December 20th to file a response with the state.
