JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- UPDATE: An alleged parental abduction that led to an Amber Alert for a missing 6-year-old girl has been resolved.
The FDLE announced early Monday morning Onnika Fisher has been found.
First Coast News reports Fisher and her mother, Charity Chatman were located during a traffic stop in Perry, Georgia.
Chatman is reportedly in police custody for interfering with custody.
Onnika Fisher was last seen in the 6200 block of Dupont Station Court on the southside of Jacksonville during a Department of Children & Families supervised visit.
Onnika, who is in foster care, was visiting with her mother, Charity Chatman, at the Jewish Family and Community Services Center.
John Farrell, a spokesman for DC, says the visits aren't unusual. He says about 800 of them take place each month in Jacksonville and you don't have incidents like this.
He adds, "Typically the caseworker will walk the child to the car so that the child can say goodbye to the mother. I mean, it is the mother after all. They can say goodbye to each other. The caseworker is just a few feet away."
Farrell says this incident happened very fast, though, as the visit was ending. He says the caseworker is employed by the Jewish Family and Community Services Center.
"They were walking out of the door. The mother had said to that caseworker, 'Look, I have some gifts in the back of the car that I'd like to give to the child.'"
He adds that the caseworker was 15 feet away. Farrell says, "The mother grabbed that child, threw the child in the car, and took off very quickly. In this case, the mother saw a quick moment, a quick opportunity, grabbed that child and ran."
Law enforcement is now searching for a dark green 2000 Buick Century with Ohio license plates. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says that is the car Chatman was driving when she took her child. The plate number is FPA 4958. They say there's a trailer hitch receiver visible underneath the rear bumper of the vehicle, which is a unique feature on that style of vehicle.
Fisher is described by JSO as black/mixed race, is 3'10", and weighs 53 pounds. She was wearing a pony tail, blue jeans, and a pink jacket with a white polka dot lining.
Chatman is 38 years old and is described as a black female wearing a red baseball cap, blue jeans, and wears a green jacket. JSO says Chatman has a history of mental illness and police are concerned for the child's welfare.
Chatman is known to frequent hotels, particularly Red Roof Inns, according to JSO.
Police believe Chatman, who lost custody of her child six weeks ago, may be unstable due to emails she sent recently where she allegedly said the government was out to get her. JSO has contacted the child's father and he is cooperating with authorities. JSO does not believe she will become violent towards her child, which is why she was allowed to visit Onnika.
Farrell says, "It could be psychologically traumatic for the children to not be able to see their parents for supervised visits."
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle or Chatman or Fisher is urged to contact JSO at (904) 630-0500 or contact First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-877-845-TIPS (8477).
