Ikki Matsumoto and his painting "Moon and Loon"
Fort Myers, Florida (News-Press) -- Acclaimed artist Ikki Matsumoto has died at 79.
Japanese-born Matsumoto's whimsically stylized animals and subtropical
landscapes brought him an international following, and his philanthropic
generosity with his work endeared him to many area nonprofits.
He moved to Sanibel with his fiber artist wife, Polly, in 1975, the same year he illustrated the iconic "The Joy of Cooking."
