Tarpon Springs, Florida -- A full crowd was at the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks today for the Greek Orthodox communities' Epiphany Celebration of the Blessing of the Fleet.
The clergy blessed commercial and recreational fishermen, their boats, and the Anclote River, wishing them safe and prosperous journeys.
Even the teenage boys preparing to dive and retrieve the cross tomorrow were blessed.
The festivities continue tomorrow with Epiphany services at 8 a.m., the cross dive at 1 p.m., and a festival from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
30,000 people are expected to attend.
