St. Petersburg, FL -- The much anticipated Midtown Walmart Neighborhood Market will open on January 29th.
"This is a fantastic win for our entire community," Deputy Mayor Dr. Kanika Thomalin said about the opening.
10 News was first to report last fall that Walmart would be opening a grocery store in the old Sweetbay location on 22nd Street South.
The new store will be roughly 40,000-square-feet in size and employ 105 people.

The store will include a pharmacy with a liquor store opening next door.
But store manager Carl Spady says they want to be seen as a community partner not just a business.
"We'll be involved in community events locally throughout Midtown area. We have a lot of associates who volunteer at the Boys and Girl's Club and we'll be working with several other organizations in the midtown area as well," Spady said on Friday.
