MIAMI (AP) - A 22-year-old Miami-Dade College student who has lived most of her life in the country illegally is expected to be among those attending President Barack Obama's State of the Union.
Mayra Rubio Limon was invited by South Fla Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia to hear Tuesday's address. The Mexican native is one of a handful of so-called Dreamers from around the country set to be in the audience when the president speaks.
Obama will likely name immigration reform as a top priority during the remainder of his term. Rubio Limon says she hopes Congress will create a path to citizenship for all those in the country illegally, but her farmworker parents simply want to work legally without fear of deportation and to be able to visit family in Mexico.
