Video: Americans struggle on day one of the Olympics
(USA TODAY) It didn't take long for #SochiProblems to make their official Olympic debut.
Early in Friday night's Opening Ceremony at the 2014 Winter Olympics at Fisht Stadium, large, fake snowflakes hovered over the ground.
Those flakes were supposed to expand into Olympic rings, with three falling from the north and two rising from the south. But as the flakes changed over, one of the snowflakes refused to budge. What remained was four Olympic rings with an asterisk.
On the whole, it was a minor error in a show with lots of moving parts. Better a missing ring than a missing Olympic cauldron, eh Vancouver?
