Tampa, Florida -- The Florida Highway Patrol has released 911 phone calls from concerned drivers, as well as dispatchers, regarding the I-275 wrong way crash that killed five people.
Early Sunday morning, on February 9, Daniel Morris crashed head on with a car carrying four USF students while he was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 275.
Concerned drivers called to report the "careening" SUV as it traveled down the interstate. The fifth piece of audio is between two dispatchers as they tracked the SUV on camera and hoped it wouldn't hit anyone.
The students in the car Morris hit were Imtiyaz Jim Ilias, Dammie Yesudous, Jobin Kuriakose, and Ankeet Patel. All of them 20 to 22-years-old.
Morris was staying with his childhood friend Scott Enfinger, who released this statement though his attorneys Wednesday night.
"Mr. Scott Enfinger expresses his deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of the victims in this tragedy. Mr. Enfinger stands with the families of this tragedy in attempting to determine why Daniel Morris was driving into oncoming traffic."
