Krasnoyarsk, Russia - Siberian skiers near Krasnoyarsk, Russia ended their season in style on Sunday (April 22) by donning costumes for a last downhill run into a giant puddle.

Spring has not yet arrived in Krasnoyarsk but in anticipation of melting snow 96 alpine skiers and snowboarders donned colourful costumes and tried to ride through a 65-and-a-half-foot puddle.

Very few were able to do that, with most ending up right in the middle of the puddle.

Many Krasnoyarsk residents came to cheer for the most unusual costumes, which included mask from such films as "Saw", "Scream" and "Avatar".

"I had a lot of very nice feelings and a lot of adrenaline. Everything is so cool. It's the first time I've taken part in such a competition, but I think there should be more of them so people could relax amidst their routine city life. Here is the perfect place for it," said Russian snowboarding champion Alexei Boldykov who also took part.

There were several prizes given out in different nominations, but for many the prizes were not the reason they showed up for the event.

"It's not the prize that matters. What matters is that I know I had a good ride," said 36-year-old Yevgeny Yarygin who managed to ride through the puddle to thrust his fists into the air in triumph.

The event has become an annual attraction in Krasnoyarsk and a staple of the Russian skiing season.
