Tampa, Fla. -- For the USF softball team, a three-year draught ended Sunday night.
The Bulls landed in the Big Dance for the first time since 2008, entering the NCAA Tournament via the Gainesville Regional, as announced on ESPNU late Sunday evening.
USF is slated in a double-elimination bracket that features all Florida teams. The Bulls will lead the tournament off against UCF Friday at 3:30 p.m. EST, as FGCU and fifth-seeded Florida sit on the other half.
Earlier this season, USF topped the Gators in Gainesville. The Bulls are 1-1 against Florida this season, 1-0 against FGCU and have not played UCF. Of the 63 other teams in the field, USF has faced 19 this season.
