Seffner, Florida -- All-American status is one of the highest honors a high school athlete can receive. Tuesday in Seffner, a pair of teammates both earned the distinction.
Armwood football stars Alvin Bailey and Leon McQuay III were both named to the 6th annual Under Armour All-America game. The nationally televised showcase game features 90 of the top high school standouts from around that nation. The game is set for January 4, 2013 at Tropicana Field.
Armwood head coach Sean Callahan recalls six Hawks All-Americans in the past 15 years, but this is the first time two Hawks teammates have been selected to play together. The seniors are not only great players but are best friends as well.
Bailey is committed to play at the University of Florida next fall while McQuay is still undecided on his college choice.
