Tampa, FL - Gaither quarterback Alex McGough is the Southern Ford Dealers Player of the Week.

The junior quarterback passed for 295 yards and tossed five touchdowns leading the Cowboys past Tampa Bay Tech 35-32, clinching the Class 7A-District 7 title for the Cowboys.

For the year, McGough has passed for nearly 1500 yards, with 20 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions

McGough says being selected the "Player of the Week" is good, but winning the game is better.

"It makes me feel so good, I mean, just to come out and just perform good.   I mean, even if i didn't throw five touchdowns, if we won the game, I still would have felt good.   but just to do so good and throw five touchdowns, it was definitely very good."

Gaither (7-2, 4-0) will finish the regular season on the road at Riverview, before opening the playoffs at home, with a first round game against Newsome.
