Miami, FL-- The Miami Marlins named Tampa native Tino Martinez their hitting coach under new manager Mike Redmond.

Martinez was reportedly under consideration for the same position with the Boston Red Sox.

Martinez slugged 339 home runs during a 16-year major league career.  He was the starting first baseman on 4 New York Yankee World Series Championship teams.
