Tampa, FL-- Jesuit HS named Matt Thompson as the school's 20th head football coach.
Thompson had been Armwood HS's defensive coordinator for the past 10 seaons. He's a native of Brandon, and a USF graduate.
Jesuit Athletic Director Terry Rupp praised Thompson's prep coaching experience.
"Matt is both a coach's and a player's coach," said Rupp. "Not only is he highly respected in the local coaching community, but he's also earned the respect and trust of his players."
As a Bay Area native, Thompson is well aware of Jesuit's 91-year football history.
"Yea, I want to be part of that," said Thompson. "It's been a dream... This is the job, this is it... There's no looking around anywhere else... This is where I want to be."
Matt Thompson also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1986-1991.
