St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays signed designated hitter Luke Scott to a one-year deal, the team announced on Wednesday.
Scott will earn a base salary of $2.75 million in 2013. In 96 games during an injury-filled 2012 season, Scott batted .229 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI and 22 doubles.
Over eight seasons in the majors with the Astros (2005-07), Orioles (2008-11) and Rays, Scott has a .260 average with 126 homers and 396 RBI.
