Houston, TX (Sports Network) - David Price will return to a major league mound for the first time in nearly seven weeks on Tuesday, with the Tampa Bay Rays activating the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner from the 15-day disabled list to start the team's game against the Houston Astros.

Price has been sidelined since May 15 with a left triceps strain, but proclaimed himself ready to go by striking out eight over five scoreless innings in a rehab assignment with the Rays' Class A affiliate in Port Charlotte, FL this past Wednesday.

The standout lefty had been struggling prior to landing on the DL, compiling a disappointing 1-4 record with a 5.24 earned run average over his first nine outings of 2013.

To make room for Price on the active roster for Tuesday's tilt, the Rays optioned Ryan Roberts to Triple-A Durham despite the veteran infielder's 3- for-5, two-homer performance in Monday's 12-0 win over the Astros.

Roberts, who set career highs of 19 homers and 18 stolen bases with Arizona in 2011, was batting .250 with five homers and 16 RBI over 49 games this season.
