Detroit Tigers' pitcher Rick Porcello, was suspended 6 games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally hitting the Rays' Ben Zobrist in Sunday' game.

It appeared that Porcello was retaliating for an incident in Saturday's game, when Fernanda Rodney pitched inside to the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera.

Zobrist was not hurt in the at-bat.

Porcello plans to appeal the suspension, which will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.

Porcello has started 15 games this season, earning a record of 4-6 with a 5.21 ERA and 68 strikeouts.
