Cleveland (WKYC) -- Here is another great story about the Ohio
State-Michigan rivalry and tonight, we have another one to share with
12-year-old Buckeye fan Grant Reed recently battled cancer in a Columbus hospital. Grant decided to name his cancer "Michigan," because he wanted to beat it so badly.
And he did.
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer even stopped in to visit with Grant during his chemotherapy.
Now Michigan head coach Brady Hoke has invited Grant to watch the Buckeyes play the Wolverines in Ann Arbor this November. The Rotary Club of Jackson, Michigan has also offered to pay for the family's hotel.
Grant's dad Troy Reed played in the Ohio State marching band and had this to say about Michigan's generosity.
"It's getting hard to keep my dislike for them, because they've been
so classy and unbelievable to us. But it won't be hard to cheer for the
Buckeyes," Troy said.
