Seffner, Fl - The undefeated Armwood Hawks looked like they were going to run away with their game against the Venice Indians in first round playoff action.
Quarterback Noah Johnson had several big runs, including a 12-yard touchdown run going up the middle, giving the Hawks the edarly 7-0 lead.
But Venice answered with their own running attack, lead by running back Terry Polk. The speedster raced around the end 59-yards to tie the game at 7-7 in the first.
Venice added a 42-yard field goal by Stone Wilson, to take a 10-7 halftime lead.
But in the second half Armwood came out strong. Trevor Laurent had several good runs, and capped off a long scoring drive with a 5-yard scamper into the endzone.
After recovering a muffed punt, the Hawks added another score when Johnson rushed for his second TD of the game, a 3-yard score, and the Hawks never looked back, winning 31-19 to advance to the second round.
Next week the Hawks (11-0) host the Jefferson Dragons (10-1) in a rematch from earlier in the season.
