(USA TODAY) Just like that, the A-Rod battle against Major League Baseball and the union is over.

Alex Rodriguez's attorneys filed notices of dismissal Friday in federal court in Manhattan to drop his lawsuits against Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, and will accept his 162-game suspension for the 2014 season.

JETER: Unsure whether A-Rod will be at camp

"We have been informed that Alex Rodriguez has reached the prudent decision to end all of the litigation related to the Biogenesis matter,'' MLB said in a statement. "We believe that Mr. Rodriguez's actions show his desire to return the focus to the play of our great game on the field and to all of the positive attributes and actions of his fellow Major League Players. We share that desire."

Said the union in a statement: "Alex Rodriguez has done the right thing by withdrawing his lawsuit. His decision to move forward is in everyone's best interest."

It remains unknown whether Rodriguez still plans to attend the Yankees' spring-training camp in Tampa this month, but it now appears highly unlikely.
