Per a report by The Advertiser, LSU has moved on from Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher.
The Tigers are now pursuing Houston head coach Tom Herman for the vacant head coaching position. The Tigers fired former head coach Les Miles four games into the season after a last second loss to Auburn. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron was also fired at the time, and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron was named the interim head coach.
LSU officials were negotiating with Fisher's agent Jimmy Sexton on Wednesday night. They were offering around a $7 million salary for Fisher, who is set to make $5.25 million this season at FSU.
FSU has won at least 10 games in five of the six seasons under Fisher, and is in position to do so again this season with a win against Florida and a bowl win.
FSU will likely renegotiate Fisher's contract, which will likely include a raise to at least $6 million. Fisher has the backing of FSU president John Thrasher, who has stated that he will do everything he can, within reason, to keep Fisher in Tallahassee.
Fisher is 76-17 at FSU, and has won three ACC titles and a National Championship since taking over for legendary head coach Bobby Bowden in 2010.
