Gators, Canes monitoring Hurricane Matthew

Ryan Bass and Bobby Deskins discuss the forecast at Hurricane Matthew approaches.

With Hurricane Matthew closing in on the United States, several in-state college football games could be impacted by the storm.

As of Wednesday afternoon, most schools were taking a wait-and-see approach.

The Florida Gators say a final decision on their Saturday game with LSU, tentatively scheduled for noon in Gainesville, will be made Thursday afternoon.

The Miami Hurricanes, who host rival Florida State on Saturday night, are also exploring contingency plans for the storm. Per the Palm Beach Post, university officials met Tuesday morning to discuss their plan for Hurricane Matthew.

The Atlantic Coast Conference, when reached by email Tuesday, said there has been no change to the game as of yet, but their member schools are monitoring the situation closely.

"The main consideration, of course, is always safety for the teams, fans and people working the game," Steve Phillips, Associate Dir. of Communications for the ACC, said.
