Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Rickie Fowler's first PGA Tour victory, a
playoff win Sunday over Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points at the Wells Fargo
Championship, resulted in a jump to 24th in this week's world rankings.
Fowler moved up 15 places to crack the top-25.
While McIlroy wasn't able to pull out the victory, his tie for second place
still allowed him to reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Luke Donald. It is his
third stint in the top position and fifth week overall.
Donald moved to second, and is followed by Lee Westwood, Masters winner Bubba
Watson and Hunter Mahan.
Steve Stricker, Tiger Woods and Martin Kaymer remained in the sixth through
eighth positions, respectively, while Webb Simpson moved up five places to
ninth. Simpson just missed the playoff Sunday at Quail Hollow and finished
alone in fourth. Phil Mickelson stayed at No. 10 in the rankings.
Justin Rose fell two places to 11th and Adam Scott rose one to 12th. South
Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel both dipped two spots to 13th
and 14th, respectively.
Jason Day and Matt Kuchar switched spots, with Day moving up to 15th and
Kuchar falling to 16th. Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell, Bill Haas and Jason
Dufner stayed in their positions and rounded out the top 20.
Francesco Molinari, who won the Open de Espana on the European Tour, jumped 17
places to 29th.
