Armwood overpowers Durant, 35-14

Seffner, Florida -- The only thing that seemed to go Durant's way was winning the coin toss on Friday night.

Armwood got on the board first when quarterback Noah Johnson found Kordell Pimenta 13 yards out. Three minutes later, Dedarallo Blue picked up the fumble recovery and scored from the 45-yard line to give the Hawks a 14-0 lead.

Durant got on the board before the end of the first quarter when Crispian Atkins rushed for 48 yards.

The Hawks extended their lead 21-7, after Johnson scored from 6 yards out. The Cougars answered, trailing only by seven again, when Atkins ran untouched up the middle for his second touchdown of the night.

But, it didn't take long for Armwood to score again as Erin Collins took it in from the 1 yard line, giving the Hawks a 28-14 lead at halftime.

Armwood's Johnson rushed for 98 yards on nine carries and a touchdown along with going 3-for-9 for 33 yards and a 13-yard passing touchdown.

The Cougars fumbled again in the fourth quarter and it didn't take long for the Hawks to take advantage. Johnson scored from 11 yards out giving Armwood a 35-14 lead. The Hawks added a safety after the punt snap went over Derek Wells' head sealing the Cougars fate with less than two minutes left.

Armwood won 37-14.
