Tampa Bay Tech thinking big season

Tampa Bay Tech opened up their season on a winning note over Newsome 25-17. The victory is just a taste of what the Titans are capable of this season.

Following a 6-4 2013 campaign, head coach Jayson Roberts in his fourth year expects his team to return to the postseason. Losses late in the year to Sickles and Gaither knocked Tampa Bay Tech out of playoff contention in Class 7A District 7.

This year, the Titans added some transfers to a team that graduated most of its starters. The head coach will put the load on his shoulders as the offensive play caller. Roberts will rely on senior quarterback Deon Cain to carry out the playbook. Cain has proven he can handle the moment as Tampa Bay Tech's all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Marchalo Judge and senior Sherrod Paige anchors an athletic secondary.

Next up for the Titans will be a home showdown with Durant on September 12.
