Clermont, FL-- The Durant HS Cougars won the 8A state softball championship, early Tuesday morning, in a rain-delayed 8-2 win over Miami Palmetto.
Brooke Freeman homered and singled twice for the Cougars. They scored 3 runs in the 4th inning, to erase a 2-0 Palmetto lead.
The game was delayed by rain for nearly an hour, with the Cougars holding a 7-2 lead in the 6th inning.
It's the first 8A state championship for Durant HS.
