Tampa, Florida -- It's going to be a history making season for the Hillsborough High School varsity boy's basketball team no matter how they finish. That's because their new head coach is a woman. But Stephanie Crawford believes other women could do what she's doing, if simply given the chance.
"There are so many female coaches out there that are knowledgeable and capable of coaching males, females, middle, high school, collegiate level, they're out there," Crawford said.
It's believed Crawford is the first woman in the Bay area to lead a major varsity boy's high school program. As a result, Crawford knows there will be a lot of eyes watching her every move. But the 39-year-old says she is ready for the challenge.
"I think there is going to be a lot of pressure there, (but) not any pressure that I'm not ready to take on."
The Terriers open their season December 1st.
