New York, NY (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman
was named National League Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .367 in
seven games.
Freeman had 11 hits, tying for the NL high, and three homers while knocking in
10 runs.
He hit safely in six of the seven games with a .767 slugging percentage to
earn his second career weekly honor -- both coming in the last three weeks.
Baseball also noted the performances of Atlanta's Chipper Jones; Pittsburgh's
Pedro Alvarez and James McDonald; Carlos Beltran, Matt Holliday and Adam
Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals; Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez; Houston's
Chris Johnson, Jed Lowrie and Brett Myers; Philadelphia's Hunter Pence and
Carlos Ruiz; and Miami's Giancarlo Stanton and Ricky Nolasco.
