Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Alex Gonzalez has
a torn ACL in his right knee.
Gonzalez suffered the injury in the second inning of Saturday's game against
the San Francisco Giants while sliding into second base when his knee buckled
as he reached the bag. He immediately slammed his helmet on the infield dirt
and called for Brewers medical personnel.
He then had to be carried off the field by manager Ron Roenicke and head
athletic trainer Dan Wright.
An MRI on Monday confirmed the extent of the injury.
The 14-year veteran has a .259 average with four home runs, 15 RBI and eight
runs scored through 24 games with Milwaukee this season.
