Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Marlins only had one baserunner past the second inning but did enough in the first two frames to beat their former ace and the Boston Red Sox, 4-1, in the opener of a three-game interleague series.

Josh Johnson (4-4) bettered Josh Beckett with seven innings of one-run ball, and Donovan Solano drove in two runs to help Miami snap a six-game losing streak. Johnson allowed four hits and one walk while fanning seven.

Boston's struggles continued, losing for the seventh time in eight games despite Beckett (4-7) retiring 16 of the final 17 hitters he faced in a seven- inning start.
