Royals down Jays to split 4-game set

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Eric Hosmer went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored, helping the Kansas City Royals beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 9-6, in the finale of a four-game series.

Yuniesky Betancourt hit a solo homer for the Royals, who won two games in the series. Alcides Escobar, Billy Butler, Mike Moustakas and Alex Gordon had an RBI apiece.

Kansas City starter Luke Hochevar (6-8) gave up two runs on four hits over five innings before leaving for precautionary reasons with a right medial ankle sprain.

J.P. Arencibia hit a pair of homers and knocked in three runs for the Blue Jays, who went 4-4 on an eight-game homestand. Ben Francisco had two RBI.

Henderson Alvarez (5-7) allowed five runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
