Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - New York Mets ace Johan Santana was placed on
the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a right ankle sprain.
The 33-year-old apparently suffered the injury during his last start before
the All-Star break, on July 6 against Chicago.
Over his last three starts, which include Friday's loss to the Dodgers, the
Venezuelan lefty has given up 28 hits and 19 runs over 12 2/3 innings.
For the season, Santana is just 6-7 with a 3.98 earned run average in 19
starts.
To fill the roster spot, New York has recalled hurler Jeremy Hefner from
Triple-A Buffalo.
