Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher
Joe Blanton from the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday in exchange for a player
to be named later or cash considerations.
Blanton has pitched to an 8-9 record with a 4.59 earned run average in 21
games (20 starts) this season. In nine postseason games with the Phillies,
Blanton went 2-0 with a 4.23 ERA.
A nine-year veteran, Blanton has appeared in 227 games -- 218 starts -- with
the Oakland Athletics (2004-2008) and the Phillies (2008-2012). He has posted
an 81-71 record with a 4.35 ERA.
The Phillies recalled pitcher B.J. Rosenberg from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to
replace Blanton on the active roster
Kyle Kendrick will start in place of Blanton on Friday night as Philadelphia
takes on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
