St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia exited his start in Monday's Game 2 of the National League Division Series after two innings due to soreness in his left shoulder.

Garcia labored through 51 pitches in his abbreviated stint and walked three batters while allowing one run on two hits in the Cardinals' 12-4 win over Washington. The left-hander went to a full count on five of the 11 batters he faced before being removed for a pinch-hitter during a four-run bottom of the second.

The 26-year-old, who will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, spent more than two months on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation before returning on Aug. 19. Garcia had been pitching well up until the playoffs, posting a 4-1 record and a 2.50 earned run average over his final six starts of the regular season.

In 20 overall outings this season, Garcia compiled a 7-7 mark with a 3.92 ERA.

The defending World Series champion Cardinals evened their best-of-five NLDS at 1-1 with Monday's victory, with Game 3 scheduled for Wednesday in Washington.
