Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks flew back to
Arlington for an interleague makeup game that was postponed May 29 after rain
left Rangers Ballpark in unplayable conditions.
On Thursday, the Diamondbacks, for the second time this season, were buried
under a deluge of strikeouts by Texas starter Yu Darvish.
The Japanese right-hander matched a career-high with 14 punchouts in a 7-1
Darvish (10-5), who also fanned 14 Diamondbacks on May 27, scattered five
singles and didn't issue a walk over seven scoreless innings. He has allowed
just one run in three outings since coming off the disabled list.
After mashing three straight walk-off homers in a sweep of the Angels, the
Rangers belted solo home runs in three consecutive innings off Arizona rookie
Zeke Spruill (0-1).
Spruill, making his first major league start, was tagged for five runs and
seven hits in four frames.
