The Tampa Bay Rays will open the 2017 regular season hosting the New York Yankees on Sunday, Apr. 2, according to the schedule released by the team on Wednesday. 2017 will mark the eighth straight year the Rays have opened their season at Tropicana Field.
The Rays are also set to host the first scheduled doubleheader in the major leagues since 2011, playing two with the Oakland A’s on Saturday, June 10. The full monthly schedule is shown below.
Their 20-game interleague schedule features a four-game home-and-home series with the Miami Marlins (May 1-4), and games against all five National League Central teams. The Rays host three-game series with both the Cincinnati Reds (June 19-21) and the Milwaukee Brewers (Aug. 4-6), and visit the Chicago Cubs on July 4-5 before hosting them on Sept. 19-20.
The Rays will also visit the Pittsburgh Pirates (June 27-29) and the St. Louis Cardinals (Aug. 25-27).
They close out the regular season with a three-game weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles, Sept. 29–Oct. 1.
