Elon, NC (Sports Network) - Sebastian Koch scored 21 points to lead four
players in double figures as the Elon Phoenix dropped Appalachian State 82-59
in a Southern Conference matchup at Alumni Gym.
Drew Spradlin netted 18, Jack Isenbarger had 11 and Ryley Beaumont added 10
points for Elon (13-10, 8-4 SoCon) which has won five of its last six.
Nathan Healy scored 14 to lead Appalachian State (9-14, 5-8) which has lost
four of its last five.
Elon led by a dominating 39-23 advantage going into intermission by shooting
46.9 percent from the floor and clamping down on defense limiting Appalachian
State to only 35.7 percent shooting. The Phoenix also outscored the
Mountaineers 18-6 from the three point line in the opening period.
In the second half Appalachian State heated up connecting on 66.7 percent of
its field goal attempts but was unable to overcome the poor first period as
Elon outscored the Mountaineers 15-4 from the free throw line down the stretch
to close out the victory.
Elon held the edge on the glass by a 38-28 margin and also dished out 21
assists while collecting eight steals.
