Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Juan'ya Green scored 19 points for the
Niagara Purple Eagles as they captured a 62-61 win over the Loyola
Maryland Greyhounds in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at
Reitz Arena.
Green was 6-of-11 from the field while recording five assists, two blocks and
two steals as Niagara (3-5, 1-1 MAAC) ended a three-game losing streak.
Antoine Mason added 14 points while Ameen Tanksley managed 10 points.
Dylon Cormier was the leading scorer for the Greyhounds (7-3, 0-1) with 17
points, followed by Robert Olson with 10. Loyola has now lost two in a
row after a six-game win streak.
Niagara led 28-27 at halftime after Loyola shot 1-of-8 from three-point range
in the first half.
In the second half both teams scored 34 points but the Eagles were able to
hold off a late surge by the Greyhounds as Green made two clutch free throws
with six seconds remaining to put the game out of reach, despite Anthony
Winbush's three-pointer with one second to play for Loyola.
Niagara picked up the win despite shooting only 13-of-24 at the charity
stripe.
