Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - Will Cherry tallied 16 points to lead the
Montana Grizzlies to a 78-58 rout of North Dakota to notch their Big Sky
Conference record 24th consecutive win in a league play on Saturday at
Dahlberg Arena.
Kareem Jamar added 14 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for Montana
(18-4, 14-0 Big Sky) in its milestone victory. Eric Hutcheson and Spencer
Coleman scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Troy Huff paced North Dakota (10-13, 7-7) with 23 points on 11-of-20 shooting
from the floor while Jamal Webb posted 14 points, seven rebounds, and four
assists. The setback snapped UND's two-game winning streak.
North Dakota came out of the gate slow to hit on just 39.1 percent of its
field goal attempts in the first half. Montana took a 40-21 lead into the
intermission by shooting 53.3 percent from the floor in the opening stanza.
Although the visitors heated up to shoot 51.9 percent from the field after the
break, the Grizzlies extended their lead by a point in the second half by
converting 11-of-14 at the charity stripe.
Montana held a narrow, 35-31, edge in the rebounding battle while North Dakota
finished the contest with 22 turnovers.
