Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Behind a career-high 30 points from Mikh
McKinney, the Sacramento State Hornets took down the Portland State Vikings,
77-71, in Big Sky Conference action at The Nest.
McKinney shot 13-of-18 from the field for Sacramento State (12-10, 7-7 Big
Sky), which has won back-to-back games. Joe Eberhard added 12 points for the
hosts, while Konner Veteto tallied 10 points and seven rebounds.
For Portland State (5-16, 3-11), Lateef McMullan recorded 17 points and five
assists, while Aaron Moore logged a double-double with 15 points and 10
rebounds. Gary Winston and Renado Parker netted 13 and 12 points,
respectively.
Sacramento State led by as many as 12 in the first half and went into
intermission with a 38-32 advantage. Both teams shot greater than 50 percent
from the field in the frame.
Portland State climbed back in the game thanks to a 12-0 run early in the
second half. The Hornets were down by one, 65-64, with less than three minutes
remaining before they ripped off a 10-0 spurt to pull away.
The Vikings committed just 10 turnovers on the night, but the Hornets took
even better care of the ball with only four miscues.
